Opioid Overdose Prevention Program
Our Mission
Use a practical, evidence-based approach to reduce risks, remove obstacles to treatment, and, most importantly, save lives as the opioid crisis changes in communities. Using proven tools such as overdose-reversal medication and harm reduction strategies, we can support community members who use drugs by promoting health, offering services that integrate with general medical care, and keeping our neighbors as healthy as possible.
What We Do
- Available for community events for education and Naloxone (Narcan) distribution and harm reduction items such as Fentanyl and Xylazine test strips
- Enrollment assistance into the County Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) distribution system
- Educational materials available in Spanish and English on topics such as:
- What is an opioid?
- Fentanyl and Xylazine risks
- Safe storage of medications
- Signs and symptoms of an overdose
- How to use Naloxone
- Where to find Naloxone overdose kits in the community
- Local treatment options for substance use and opioid use disorders
- Recovery meetings in the community
- Trainings available for your agency/department on the Opioid crisis, local and national efforts to stop overdose deaths using harm reduction techniques

The authors are experienced with fentanyl — both caring for patients with overdoses as well as using it medically to treat pain and created this resource to dispel myths related to fentanyl.
