Public Health Laboratory

The Ventura County Public Health Laboratory performs communicable disease testing to support public health programs, environmental health and animal regulation. The Laboratory is an approved public health laboratory offering testing in the areas of:

  • Mycobacteriology
  • Mycology
  • Parasitology
  • Serology
  • Virology
  • Water Microbiology

 

We are dedicated to excellence in diagnostic testing, consultation, and assistance. We provide highly specialized diagnostic testing for serious infectious diseases, including rabies, HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. We provide a range of environmental testing services to ensure safe water for drinking and recreation. Our reference services can provide assistance regarding any public health concern.

We utilize the most effective fluorescent antibody and RNA amplification techniques available for infectious disease testing. Our laboratory maintains current certification with all regulatory agencies and participates in on-going performance evaluation and quality assurance programs.
