For the health and wellbeing of our community, it is recommended that all people over the age of 6 months receive the flu vaccine every year.
What To Know About Flu Vaccines
- Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu virus!
For general information on flu vaccines from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), visit their website: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/ - It is safe to get the flu vaccine simultaneously with other vaccines, including COVID-19 and Booster shots.
For more information on this topic, visit: Frequently Asked Influenza (Flu) Questions: 2022-2023 Season | CDC - If you are 65 years of age or older: Ventura County Public Health encourages you to get a high dose quadrivalent flu shot.
While the regular dose flu vaccine provides those 65 and over with significant protection, the high dose vaccine, with four times the amount of potency, is recommended as seniors have a lower immune response to vaccination, and are at particular risk for experiencing significant and negative outcomes from an influenza infection.
For more information on the high-dose flu vaccine, visit Fluzone High-Dose Seasonal Influenza Vaccine | CDC
