What To Know About Flu Vaccines

• Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu virus!

• It is safe to get the flu vaccine simultaneously with other vaccines, including COVID-19 and Booster shots.

• If you are 65 years of age or older: Ventura County Public Health encourages you to get a high dose quadrivalent flu shot.
  While the regular dose flu vaccine provides those 65 and over with significant protection, the high dose vaccine, with four times the amount of potency, is recommended as seniors have a lower immune response to vaccination, and are at particular risk for experiencing significant and negative outcomes from an influenza infection.

The Ventura County Health Care Agency offers several options:

  * Cost of vaccine ranges from $0 to $35 depending on type of vaccine, insurance, and qualifying programs. Our clinics accept VCHCP, Gold Coast Health Plan, Valley Care, as well as many contracted HMOs and PPOs. If you do not have health coverage, we offer a Self‐Pay Discount Program.
