VENTURA COUNTY HEALTH CARE PLAN INCLUDED AMONG 13 COVERED CALIFORNIA HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS TO BE OFFERED THROUGH THE COVERED CALIFORNIA MARKETPLACE
[Ventura] -- Covered California announced this morning the health insurance plans that will be offered by insurance companies through Covered California once the marketplace goes online October 1, 2013. The Ventura County Health Care Plan (VCHCP) has been selected as one of 13 health plans offered in the insurance marketplace. The VCHCP, established in 1993, is a community-focused, county-sponsored Health Maintenance Organization that currently provides health services for Ventura County employees, their dependents and Healthy Families enrollees, among others. The VCHCP has more than 20 years’ experience building a provider network specifically designed to meet the needs of county residents, currently serving 24,000 members.
Starting October 1, 2013, qualified individuals and small groups, will be able to sign up for health insurance provided by the VCHCP effective January 1, 2014. Ventura County residents who meet the eligibility criteria will now have access to care provided through the Ventura County Health Care Plan. VCHCP is focused on serving the needs of Ventura County residents newly eligible for insurance coverage as a result of health care reform.
The Ventura County Medical Center health care delivery system is at the core of the provider network and includes two county hospitals, Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital, seven urgent care facilities, and a total of 30 primary care and specialty centers. We also offer coverage with private medical practices and inpatient services may be accessed through other contracted area hospitals.
These plans will be available to the 5.3 million Californians who can purchase insurance through Covered California. Many may qualify for federal subsidies to help pay for their monthly insurance premiums
The VCHCP will launch a new web site, as well as utilize social media, to communicate with the community. The VCHCP is honored to be part of Covered California. Our primary focus is to serve the needs of Ventura County residents, who are newly eligible for insurance coverage, providing compassionate, high quality, and cost-effective health care.
