The Behavioral Health Department is contracted by the Special Education Local Plan Area and 23 county School Districts to provide intensive Social Emotional Services (ISES) to students and their families county-wide. Services are designed using the students’ Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
This program has dramatically reduced out-of-home placement. Since the implementation of ISES, the number of Ventura County children placed outside of the home has reduced by 64%.
Services and Supports:
Children receive individual and group therapy in addition to family services to meet the social emotional challenges impacting their school success. There is also an emphasis on ensuring the continuum of services for the student. For example VCBH co-facilitates trainings with educational partners so they too are aware of the array of support opportunities offered. There is also coordination of services with home-based community providers in attending to each child’s need and ensuring services are offered in the least restrictive environment. Having a shared vision of serving children locally and tailoring the continuum to meet their educational and emotional needs reflects the imbedded philosophy of wellness and resilience of children and their families.
