Hospital Replacement Wing

replacement wingIn July 2013, Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) embarked on a $300 million dollar renovation; the largest construction project in the history of Ventura County. With a grand opening set for late Spring 2017, the multi-phase project will bring the County of Ventura a state-of-the-art facility, to complement the award-winning existing services. It will include:
Brand new, 12,428 square feet, 14 private exam room, Emergency Department, Expanded Surgery Suites, Imaging, PACU, Central Supply and Sterile Processing
1st floor will include 3 ICU units, I Med/Surg unit with Telemetry, the main pharmacy and the temporary entrance to the Emergency Department.
2nd floor will include Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Neonatal intensive care unit, Pediatrics and the Pediatric intensive care unit.
3rd and 4th floors will include additional Med/Surg units and DOU.
Clark Construction, our general contractor, has been ahead of schedule for the majority of the project. Ahead of moving patients in beginning in May, the hospital will be getting ready, stocking the building and the installation of almost $2 million in furnishings and fixtures and non-perishable supplies.
There will also be numerous trainings conducted, which will include all staff, providers and many community members such as the Emergency Medical Services Department. There will be two events, called “Day in the Life,” which are essentially dress rehearsals for testing hundreds of systems and processes.
There will be numerous events to mark the remarkable achievement that opening the Hospital Replacement Wing at Ventura County Medical Center deserves. Those events will be listed here on our website as they are confirmed. Stay tuned!
